Georgie’s Interactive Pigments

Georgie's Interactive Pigments are versatile ceramic pigments that create different results with each clay or glaze you pair them with. You can apply a solid coat under a glaze or use a wipe-back technique to produce antiqued finishes or enhance texture. You can also use Interactive Pigments over raw glazes (dry but unfired) for majolica techniques at cone 6.

No matter how you use them, you'll get new and different results from what you've seen before with your glazes. Check out the charts below to see just a handful of the possibilities.
Above, eight different Interactive Pigments are shown both alone and under three of Georgie's glazes. They are first shown wiped back which means pigments are applied and then partially wiped off, leaving pigments in and around the raised texture. Then the pigments are shown with solid coverage. Solid coverage is created with one coat of pigment to bisque fired or green ware pieces using a soft brush. Pigments may also be thinned with water to lower the concentrations of color. You can see a solid coverage of an Interactive Pigment layered under Georgie's specialty glaze above. The results are full of texture and make a great sculptural finish.

Above, Georgie's Interactive Pigments are applied in a painterly application on top of a dry but unfired base glaze and then fired to cone 6. Create a traditional majolica look with an added richness of color that the Interactive Pigments contribute.
