Glaze mixing sieves are essential to any ceramic studio or classroom that mixes their own glazes. Prepared liquid glaze should be poured through an 80 or 60 mesh sieve into a container to remove any lumps. Mix the glaze using a rubber spatula, paddle or other tool. Always wear a properly fitted NIOSH certified respirator when adding liquid to dry mixes. Lower number meshes are coarser and are typically used for clays and slips. High number meshes are finer and used for glazes. The number (40, 60, 80, 100) represents the number of wires in the mesh per linear inch.
