Watch the Mona Lisa video

In this video, AMACO TP glazes are applied like paints. Using a brush, strokes of color are applied directly to the bisqueware to create a realistic depiction of the Mona Lisa painting by Leonardo da Vinci. Large fields of color are filled in with a medium brush while tight details are overlayed with a fine pointed brush. Watch and see how easy it is to create a realistic and dimensional image with AMACO TP glazes.

Mix TP glazes to create new colors

Teacher's Palette Glazes are 100% mixable and true to their unfired color. Unlike most glazes, what you see in the pre-fired state is what you will get in the fired state. While the colors will intensify, they will not change. When the glazes are mixed, new colors are developed just as if you were mixing paints. The stable color and the AP certification, means that these glazes are the perfect choice for classroom use, hence the name Teacher's Palette.

Experiment with Majolica style painting techniques

Majolica is a tradition of tin-glazed earthenware popularized in 16th-century Spain and Italy. Majolica ware is typified by an opaque white glaze, decorated with colorful stains and oxides. In the cups above, Cotton (TP-11) was applied as a base glaze and then the other Teacher's Palette colors, were brushed on in colorful designs and patterns in a style reminiscent of majolica ware.

In the plate above, Teacher's palette colors were layered on a white base, in a radial motif, to create a vibrant pattern. There are few surprises when the kiln is opened which is particularly helpful in creating a harmonious balance of colors.

Try TP glazes on a variety of low fire clay bodies

Images of individual TP glaze chips on www.baileypottery.com are shown on white clay, although TP glazes can be applied to a range of clay bodies. The same glaze over a white and red clay body yield slightly different results. In areas where the clay is thinner, it is revealed through the otherwise opaque, glossy, glaze.

Teacher's Palette glazes are sold by the individual color and in Class Packs. You can choose from a set of 6 or sets of 12, in 8 ounce or pint-sized containers. Designed with school programs in mind, class packs are convenient and economical.
