Armatures

An armature is used for sculpture to provide a general form and support for the piece in progress. Clay can be modeled over the armature to create an original sculpture from which to cast a mold. Or, if the original clay sculpture itself is to be fired, the piece must be cut apart to remove the armature and then reassembled. (Armatures are never meant to be fired.) We carry several sizes of armatures for sculpting human forms as well as animals.
