Studio Visit: Tim Rowan

Studio Visit: Tim Rowan

The Hudson Valley Pottery Tour is a rare opportunity to view and purchase one-of-a-kind works and get an intimate look at the inner workings of multiple local artist’s studios. Admission to all the studios is free and open to everyone and the tour will take place this weekend, October 19th-20th.

Bailey Pottery has been in Kingston, NY since our beginning in 1976, and since then we have seen the ceramics and arts community continue to grow and flourish. Now in its eighth year, the Hudson Valley Pottery Tour contributes to this wonderful growth.

We caught up with Tim Rowan, one of the talented artists opening his studio this weekend, to get a preview of his space and chat about his process.

Tim creates his work using both commercially available clay bodies and wild clay he digs himself. He fires his work in two wood kilns located on his property in Stone Ridge, NY.

Tim takes inspiration for his forms from old mechanical objects, often found during walks through the woods or old dump sites.

Tim's studio will be open to the public with work from his recent anagama firing for sale during the Hudson Valley Pottery Tour. Don't miss this opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at this beautiful studio and pick up a piece or two of Tim's work.

To learn even more about Tim's work and creative process, watch our video interview with Tim, shot on his beautiful Stone Ridge, NY property.

Be sure to check out the HVPT website for a map of all studio locations and plan your route! We hope to see you there!
