Dorsky Community Award 2022
A few months ago Anne and Jim Bailey were honored at The State College of New York at New Paltz with the Service to Community Award from the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art. In a festive and well-attended event with many friends and colleagues in attendance, Jim and Anne graciously accepted their award. Both Anne and Jim were recognized for their commitment to strengthen and build our local art community in Kingston and for bringing the importance of the arts to the forefront of regional thinking. They were also celebrated for their contributions to the clay world through their business Bailey Pottery Equipment, which has successfully grown and prospered over the last 40 years in Kingston, New York. The photos below are courtesy of the Dorsky.
The Dorsky is located on the campus of the State College of New York and is comprised of over 9000 square feet of exhibition space in six galleries. They feature predominantly regional artwork in their shows and have a large collection of permanent artworks in their collection. It is also considered a teaching museum where teachers can bring their students to discuss works of art and learn how museums operate. The museum was founded by a dedicated committee of faculty members as a way to enhance the teaching mission of the university.
