DIY Floral Textured Platter – A Simple Spring Project with Big Impact
Looking for a cheerful spring project that’s beginner-friendly and beautiful? This textured floral platter checks all the boxes. Using just a few essential tools, you can create a dish that highlights texture and glaze in all the best ways. We love this technique with soft celadons and bright white porcelain—it’s the perfect combo for spring or summer tables.
-
Roll out your slab using Tuckers Bright White Porcelain and the Bailey Mini Might II Slab Roller.
-
Place your floral texture mat face-down on the clay.
-
Use a mini roller over the back of the texture mat to impress the pattern evenly.
-
Remove the mat and admire that crisp floral texture!
-
Drape the textured slab over a 6"x12" GR Pottery Form (rounded rectangle).
-
Allow the slab to firm up, then flip and remove the mold carefully.
-
Dry to bone dry, then bisque fire to Cone 04 in your Bailey Electric Kiln.
-
Apply 3 coats of AMACO Marigold Celadon glaze using a Xiem Shortcut brush.
-
Final glaze fire to Cone 5 and enjoy your sunny new platter!
