Extrude Clay Forms with the Bailey Standard Extruder
For many of us, extruding clay evokes a nostalgia of extruding Play-Doh when we were children. By pushing balls of Play-Doh through plastic dies we created strings of hair, fun shaped coils and small hollow tubes. Many of us spent countless hours playing with these extruded parts and assembling them in amazing ways. And just like in our memories of extruded doh parts, extruding clay forms through metal dies opens up a world of imagination today.
What could you make with those hollow tubes? What could you build with those long coils? The possibilities are endless and the fun is inevitable. Use your extruded parts in handbuilding projects and fire them into ceramic works of art! Students will love to build with clay shapes and teachers will love the ease of creating multiple uniform shapes with the extruder.
When you've tried all the shapes there are to try using the available dies for the Standard Extruder, you can invent your own forms using the blank dies provided in the Standard Extruder Die Kit. The ability to create new forms with the Standard Extruder means the possibilities are endless!
Here we've made a short video to demonstrate using the Standard Extruder. Watch it and see how the machine operates and some of the basic forms you can create with it.
