Quality, Easy to Use Tools for Developing New Patterns in Clay

Sometimes all it takes is one new tool to spark a whole new direction in how and what we make. Pick up one of the new MKM stamps and discover a whole new world of pattern and texture. Yes, you can create your own texture stamps or rollers out of clay, wood, plaster and the like with good success. There are many great ways to add texture to clay. But, there’s a lot to be said about how well MKM texture stamps and rollers work in clay and the diversity of MKM’s pattern selection. Not to mention the fact that it is way easier to buy a premade texture tool that you know you can use over and over again than it is to spend time creating a tool that doesn’t work quite right for one reason or another.

MKM tools are designed to work well. The wood that they start with is fine-grained, recycled from the furniture industry. Each wooden tool is finished with water-resistant pure tung oil, which makes them durable over time, in fact much more so than other tools that are left unfinished or finished with other oils. The edges of the stamps are bevel cut with cutting blades instead of laser cut, specifically designed to compress the clay around the stamp and prevent cracks at the corners. This also ensures that the tool releases from the clay easily and without doing any upward pulling.
