The WA is a GR pottery Forms accessory that allows the maker to attach it to a potters wheel to aid in cutting an even lip, helps in developing a thrown foot, and gives the plate support in drying. A standard round GR Pottery Form then attaches to the spacer pin with the form's center hole (as of March 2018 a center hole comes with every round form). The center hole allows the maker to push from bottom to not disturb the lip.
The WA Board is a bat that is used to prepare and work with slabs to use with the WA. The groove in the bottom helps in locating bat pins for easy attachment. The smooth surface allows the maker to compress the slab or add texture with the help of a pottery wheel. The WA Board is also helpful to manage large plates as they are drying. It is made of porous wood fiber so clay releases from it well, but it is not a standard throwing bat.
