Directions to transfer onto flat leather-hard clay:

Method 1: Transfer Without Slip

Mist the surface of greenware with water using a spray bottle. Apply the transfer with the printed side down to the surface of the greenware. Use a very lightly dampened sponge to pat the back of the transfer paper. Wait a few moments and the use a soft rib to burnish the back of the transfer paper. Carefully pull back the paper and find your image has transfered. Bisque fire, glaze, and glaze fire to the temperature required by the clay and glaze. Underglaze transfer can be fired from cone 06-10. Testing is required.

Method 2: Transfer Using Slip

Mist or brush the printed side of the transfer with water. Use a brush to apply two coats of slip to leather hard clay surface and one coat of slip to transfer. Let the slip dry until it looses it's sheen but not until it's completely dry. Apply the slipped transfer surface to the slipped clay surface. Pat the back of the transfer paper with fingertips and burnish with a soft rib. You can mist the back of the transfer paper or use a damp sponge to apply to any dry spots if neccessary. Let sit and the burnish again with a stiffer rib. Carefully pull back the paper and find your image has transfered. Bisque fire, glaze, and glaze fire to the temperature required by the clay and glaze. Underglaze transfer can be fired from cone 06-10. Testing is required.
