Cones are available in 4 types. Choose the correct type below for your application.

Large or Self Supporting Cones are used in all firings as Witness Cones to verify heat work. A range of 3 cones is used for each firing.

Large Cones require placement in a Cone Plaque or clay pad and must stand at an 8-degree angle in order to bend properly. Large Cones come in a box of 50.

Self Supporting Cones have a built in base and stand on the shelf without need of a Cone Plaque. (Apply kiln wash under the cones to prevent them from sticking.) The base is designed to hold the cone at the correct 8-degree angle in order to bend properly. Self Supporting Cones come in a box of 25.

Junior or Bar Cones are for use in the Kiln Sitter- they are not used as Witness Cones. A Kiln Sitter is a high limit shut-off device that, when properly calibrated, is designed to shut the kiln off when the cone placed in it melts.

Both Junior and Bar Cones come in a box of 50.

Witness cones (Large or Self Support) should always be used in addition to the Kiln Sitter to verify heat work.
