Bailey Drive Board Series The Drive Board Series utilizes our patented Drive Board process for producing perfectly compressed uniform slabs. In this version, the Drive Board is a part of the drive mechanism and compression process. The board travels through the machine with the clay & canvas and serves as a way of projecting slabs along that might otherwise stall from the weight and/or drag of the clay. The drive board has several distinct functional advantages over the DRD for certain techniques.
Advantages of the Drive Board Process Architectural scale work can require very thick slabs while other techniques may require very thin slabs. The DRD system is partly dependent on the density of the clay in order for the slab to project out across the table. The DB process projects any slab out for the full length of the Drive Board regardless of its thickness and the consistency of the clay. It prevents thick, heavy slabs from bogging down due to their own weight. On the other hand, very thin slabs can sometimes bunch up on the exit side because they don't have enough mass to project across the table. The Drive Board eliminates this problem by supporting and carrying thin slabs through the machine.
Another feature of the Drive Board process is that the DB Series Rollers are bi-directional, allowing the operator to run slabs from right to left or left to right by simply turning the Drive Board around on the table and feeding it back through the rollers. This makes it possible to rerun a slab to impress textures or create inlays among other things.
The space-saving 5' Short Table designed to be used in conjunction with a pre-existing work table. The DB Short Table has a 4' counter on one side to set up the Drive Board and a short 8" counter on the other side. The short side is designed to line up with an existing work table so the Drive Board can roll out onto it. The Short Table can be rolled away when not in use: ideal for studios without room for another large table. Each tables features heavy duty steel frames, castors on one end and melamine counters.
Please note: melamine should not be saturated with water. Wet clay should not be left on the bare counter surface for extended periods of time. If the counter becomes wet, dry it with a towel. Do not cut directly on the melamine surface or damage may occur. Both tables are 34" H and assembly is required.
All DB machines and tables ship by truck. Call for a freight estimate and lead time: 800-431-6067.
Drive Board - Bailey's unique Drive Board supports the clay slab during the rolling process. This is advantageous when rolling unusually thick or thin slabs because it prevents them from bogging down as they feed out of the rollers. The Drive Board system allows the machine to be rolled either direction lending itself to some techniques not easily achieved with a one-directional machine.
34" Round Handle - The large 34" diameter Round Handle provides ample leverage for easy rolling.
Massive 4" Dia. Rollers - Our largest rollers handle the most clay and provide maximum compression during slab formation.
Simultaneous Height Adjustment - Top roller adjusts from one side oly. Rollers always remain parallel for consistently even slabs.
Steel Gear Reduction - Bailey uses only steel gears in their heavy-duty slab rollers for strength and durability. Gear reduced for extra easy operation.
