Great Mug Giveaway

Liz Quackenbush Mugs - . These mugs are made by Liz Quackenbush. She is a teacher of Ceramic Arts at Penn State College of Arts and Architecture.

"My goal in creating ceramic work is to bridge the divide between elegant china and down to earth pottery. I deliberately leave clay surfaces irregular so that they look handled and handleable. I want my pottery to invite use, while also subverting contemporary "run of the mill" preconceptions of what pottery is, can, and should be."

Ann Ruel was the lucky customer whose recent order number was drawn to receive the Liz Quackenbush mugs in our third Great Mug Giveaway of 2016. Ann is the proprietress of Little Street Pottery in Suffolk, Virginia.

Ann had this to say: "One of my mentors, Jake Allee, would always say, 'The pottery community has given me so much that I feel I need to give back to the pottery community.'  He was very generous and would go out of his way to share his ideas, tips, techniques, glaze recipes or anything to inspire and generate a passion for clay.  I try to emulate the same values to my own students."
