Our stainless steel combustion hood is
attached to the kiln chimney (which ends at the top of the kiln). This
combustion hood (which is non-load bearing) provides a double function:
1.
It collects the heat exiting the square kiln chimney and channels
it into appropriately rated insulated flu pipe (consult
with Bailey for specifics).
2. The hood is opened on two sides to allow
ample cool air to mix with the hot gases exiting the kiln. This is
necessary in order to reduce the temperatures within the stainless venting
materials.
From this point, insulated
stainless steel will be used. The
temperature rating and style of the insulated pipe will determined through
consultation with the Bailey staff.
Venting applications can vary widely:
single or multiple story; vertical sloped, or horizontal exit; open or
artificial ceilings; etc. Because of the many possible configurations,
only through a consultation with one of our staff can the appropriate
venting by determined for your situation. A direct vertical vent is always
preferable.
Local building codes must be followed. We
only sell materials for Bailey brands. Do not use this basic example for
venting a Bailey Kiln for any other brand. Do not
hook up any Bailey Kiln without consulting with our factory.
