Amaco Low Fire
Glazes
Amaco Glazes currently in production are being labeled to indicate
their suitability for use on food and drink containers. See
information below on this subject or refer to the Ceramic Color
chart or the individual catalog glaze listings for special
information concerning lead and/or cadmium content and release.
Amaco
Liquid Glazes are supplied in non-breakable plastic
jars, and are prepared by homogenizing to the correct consistency
for easy brushing. Only stirring is necessary before application.
For spraying and dipping, glazes may be thinned with water.
Amaco
Dry Powder Glazes are packaged in sturdy plastic
jars suitable for storage after mixing. Since they already contain
the appropriate amount of gum and suspenders, only water need be
added. One pound yields approximately one pint. Sieving is
recommended. |

NEW! Cone
05
These special effects glazes imitate the Artist/Potter's favorites. They
are Cone 05 oxidation glazes that look like high fired reduction
stoneware.
Effects like Tommoku, Rutile, Oil Spot and other reduction surfaces are
achieved without the cost or trouble of high fire reduction. They can be
fired over any AMACO earthenware clay; however they look their best over
dark or red firing clay like AMACO's 67M. The color in the clay will
partially show through the texture and add another color dimension to the
glaze. These glazes will look completely different depending on the clay
they are applied on.
Apply over cone 04 fired bisque or higher. Better results are achieved
when red clay is fired one or more cones higher than the glaze firing.
Amaco Artist's Choice glazes are available in
pints (liquid).
For glazes A-24 Exotic Blue and A-40 Seafoam Green glaze
fire slowly and add a 20 minutes hold at the end of the firing. The other
glazes in the series will work well whether they are fired fast or slow.
(1) Contains
no lead or cadmium bearing ingredients. Dinnerware Safe when
fired to the recommended firing temperature.
A: A.P.
nontoxic: refer to Raw
Materials Advisory for definition. Bailey recommends Amaco
glazes marked “(1)A” as most suitable for use with young children.
Ø K-6:
These glazes carry an ACMI CL "Cautions Required" label.
Although they may be Lead-Free, they are not AP
Non-Toxic due to other material content and are restricted from
school use with children from Pre-K thru Grade 6.
Warning none of these
products should be taken internally; all contain ingredients not suitable
for ingestion or inhalation.
