L&L’s Jupiter Automatic Kiln Series is great for schools and studio potters alike. Their sectional construction with plug-in control panel makes them easy to disassemble to move. In addition to the items listed above, Jupiter kilns also feature a proprietary brick coating to harden and seal the soft firebrick, full-size (not tapered) 1” spy holes for easy viewing of witness cones, protection tubes for longer thermocouple life and corrosion-resistant aluminized steel stands. This largest diameter JD Series kiln comes standard with 3” brick walls only.
This version of the JD2936-3 features 3” brick walls and a full size 28” diameter firing chamber and is rated to a maximum of Cone 10 by L&L. The JD2936-3 must be Direct Wired and comes with no cord or plug.
Electrical Specifications for Kilns
The chart above lists the available electrical specification options for this kiln. You must order the kiln with the proper wiring specifications for it to function properly. These specifications are determined by the power supply that you will be connecting the kiln to. Review this information with your electrician to determine the proper Voltage and Phase for your kiln. The choice of V/Ph determines the Amperage draw of the kiln and the size of the breaker needed. A kiln requires a breaker that is 20% above the actual amperage draw. Be sure that you can supply sufficient power for the kiln you choose. The chart also indicates the NEMA plug configuration for the kiln –or- if it must be Direct Wired. Voltage and Phase selection must be confirmed in writing with all kiln orders. If you have any questions concerning this information, please call us at 800-431-6067.
