Power Sponge
An indispensable tool for all production potters!
The Power Sponge is a fantastic new dual-purpose finishing machine and a must for anyone producing large volumes of slip-caste greenware or dry-footed glaze ware.
Greenware Finishing
Seam removal and surface smoothing are the most time-consuming and dust producing processes involved in making slip caste ceramics. The traditional method of scraping, sanding and sponging each piece by hand is very slow, produces large quantities of dust and requires excessive handling of the greenware in its most fragile state. The Power Sponge quickly removes seam lines, softens sharp edges and smoothes surface imperfections while continually rinsing and wringing itself in the bucket below. Excess clay is absorbed into the sponge and immediately washed out in the water bucket producing no scrapings or dust! In addition, each piece is handled less, significantly reducing the chances for breakage. You won’t believe how fast and easy greenware finishing can be!

Each Power Sponge is shipped with one 5-Gal. pail. The mechanism removes quickly for easy cleaning. Replacement sponges are available.

Glaze Cleaning
Production glazing techniques like dipping and spraying allow you to cover large volumes of bisqueware quickly and easily. However, if your work needs to be “dry-footed” (as most mid- and high-fire work does), then you must either 1) apply wax resist to the bottom of each piece before glazing -or- 2) clean off excess glaze by hand after glazing. Both processes are time consuming and require extra handling of the bisque pieces increasing the chance for breakage. The Power Sponge removes glaze from tile bottoms, foot rings, slab bases and any other surface that will touch the kiln shelf during firing. The firm, durable sponge rinses and wrings itself continuously as it cleans bisqueware faster than you ever imagined and eliminates the need for resist application or hand cleaning. An incredible time-saver!

The Power Sponge ships via UPS. Ship Wt. 20 lbs.
