Soldner Clay Mixers

Soldner Mixers come in two models: The Professional and The Studio. Unlike other mixers, the Soldner carries all the weight of the clay on the bottom of a slowly revolving concrete tub. The rotating drum smashes the clay through stationary cutting bars with a slicing, chopping and wedging action. This type of mixing is different from other mixers where the drum is stationary and the blades turn the clay.

The concrete tub itself is a unique feature — it can be used for storage or as a reclaim barrel. Clay can even be allowed to dry out in the mixer without problem: when the tub becomes wet, the dried clay will release from the walls. Any combination of scrap, slop, dry materials and hard clay can be remixed and homogenized in no time because the concrete absorbs excess water and redistributes it to the drier materials while the blades chop and wedge.

The Soldner “rotating drum” system does a very efficient job of reconditioning clay scrap. The Soldner will not dump the clay out, but the blade configuration cuts the clay in such a way that it can be lifted out without digging. We suggest that you place the unit up on cement blocks (8” off the ground) to make clay removal easier.

Engineered and built by Bailey specifically for the Soldner Mixers, this unique dust collection system is extremely effective at containing clay dust during the mixing process. Our collection hood attached directly to, and, will hinge with the Soldner lid. When a dust collection system (optional) applies necessary suction, dust will be dramatically reduced. Our hood has a corresponding hatch that aligns with the Soldner intake for loading raw clay. Specific air intake slots prevent dust from leaving the mixer. Available for new or old Soldner Mixers.

Bailey Direct-to-Outside Exhaust Unit
Using a Non-Filtering Unit and Exhausting to the Outside
Should the application and local code allow venting the collected dust to the outside, then a centrifugal high capacity exhaust unit is applicable. Only one ventilator unit should be used per mixer. Peak capacity is rated at 1500 cfm (no filtration). Ductwork to the outside is a 5" diameter pipe (not included) and should have minimal bends.  Straight runs should be generally less than 30' with a non-restrictive termination. We recommend an elbow style discharge that is rain tight.

Our exhaust unit is totally is mounted to the wall on a provided bracket.  As a general rule, the exhaust point on the exterior of the facility should never be in the proximity to open windows, air intakes, or near likely high-density gatherings of the public. The discharge should be high enough to eliminate the possibility of exposure to the general public, and abide by the standards set by the Safety Data Sheet regarding permissible exposure levels (PEL).
