NOTICE

The A.P. Non-Toxic Seal has been redesigned: both “old” and “new” seals may appear on products for a period of time while manufacturers revise their labeling. The meaning behind the seal remains the same: “Products bearing the AP (Approved Product) Seal of The Arts and Creative Materials Institute, Inc. are certified in a program of toxicological evaluation by a medical expert to contain no materials in sufficient quantities as to be toxic or injurious to humans or to cause acute or chronic health problems.

This program is reviewed by the Institute’s Toxicological Advisory Board. These products are certified by the Institute to be labeled in accordance with voluntary chronic hazard labeling standard ASTM D-4236. In addition, there is no physical hazard as defined within 29CFR Part 1910.1200(c).”

Bailey recommends that only products labeled AP Non-Toxic be used with children, the elderly and handicapped, Contemporary Ceramic Studios and in any group or school studio environment.
