Underglaze Decorating Colors - Lead Free
Brilliant, ready-to-use colors. Amaco Liquid Underglaze
Decorating Colors are supplied in time-saving, ready-to-use
form. The concentrated, opaque colors are recommended for
covering large areas quickly, easily and smoothly. Results are
equally effective when the colors are used for detailed
painting, sgraffito decoration, water color effects, free brush
painting, wax resist and michima decoration.
Twenty-four easy-to-apply
colors. Twenty four intense colors are available and other
colors, shades and tints are made by blending. The colors may be
brushed, silk-screened or sprayed on greenware or bisque.
For opaque coverage by
brushing, the consistency of the color in the jar is correct.
For spraying, colors are diluted with water. With further
thinning, they may be used as washes for watercolor effects.
Colors dry quickly and may be handled without damage. |
Helpful Hints
for Clear Glazing
Over Amaco Underglazes
For clear, covering glazes, Amaco LG-10, F-10, HF-9 and
HF-10 are recommended.
If the clear transparent
covering glaze is to be applied on the decorated bisque before the
underglaze colors are fired, dab the first coat with a sponge or
brush. Let dry and then brush on the next one or two coats. If the
glaze is to be applied by spraying, this precaution is not
necessary. When the underglaze colors are applied on greenware,
they are hardened on in the bisque firing and the covering glaze
may be applied either by brushing or spraying. Pieces are fired to
the maturing temperature of the covering glaze. Most of these
underglazes hold their color when fired up to cone 5. Some may be
fired up to cone 10 with good retention.
