Precious Metal Clay
Precious Metal Clay is a specially formulated combination of microscopic particles of sliver (or gold) suspended in an organic binder to create a pliable material with a consistency similar to modeling clay. There is no actual clay in this material. Working with PMC is very similar to clay. You can use many of the same modeling tools and techniques to create a vast range of forms such as rings, earrings, pendants, and embellishments on pottery. Note: If you require gold, please call.

After a PMC creation has dried, it is heated to a specific heat (as indicated for a specific material) and the binder and water is driven off yielding a dense metal. Depending on the material, this can take 10 minutes to 2 hours. The silver is .999 % pure, the gold is 24 karat. The final forms are very hard and can be sanded, soldered, colored, and polished.

PMC is available in a sheet, paste, clay, and a paste loaded in a syringe. PMC3 can be used with PMC+.

PMC has two varieties:

  • PMC+ (which is slightly more expensive and fires between 1470° F to 1650°F)
  • PMC3 (which has a wider range of 1110°F to 1290° F).

PMC Starter Kits
These kits have everything you need to start creating fabulous works of art in silver precious metal clay. Both kits have identical tools and instructions. The difference is in the choice of either the PMC+ paste and clay or PMC3 paste and clay. If you don’t own a kiln, you will need to acquire either a small electric kiln or the Hot Pot Kiln (which works with the PMC3 on, the PMC+ can not be used with the HOT POT). The Introduction to Precious Metal Clay book is full of color illustrations of finished work and numerous instructional projects. It will give you everything you need to know to make jewelry and other works of art.

Each Kit includes the following:
(1) Double-edged Detail Tool, (1) Steel Burnishing Tool, (1) Stainless Wire Brush, (1) Bristle Brush, (1) roller kit, (1) syringe with 9 g net. of PMC3, (1) PMC+ Sheet, (1)18 or 16 g net. of PMC clay, (1) 18 or 15 g net. of PMC paste, (1) PMC Info Booklet, and (1) Intro to Precious Metal Clay book.
